FLG mutations are an important genetic risk factor for atopic dermatitis (AD) onset.
FLG mutations increased the risk of not later-onset but early-onset AD from the Japanese
general birth cohort [
[1]
]. Furthermore, FLG mutations were associated with food allergy, allergic rhinitis, and asthma with eczema
[
2
,
3
]. Early-onset AD was also a risk factor for developing various allergic diseases,
such as food allergy [
4
,
5
]. In this study, we focused the infants with early-onset AD to determine whether FLG mutations influenced subsequent AD control and respiratory symptoms. We comprehensively
screened early-onset AD infants in Japan for 10 FLG mutations specific to the Japanese population and compared infants with and without
FLG mutations for AD and allergic outcomes at 12 months old.- Roduit C.
